How to reduce water heating costs: A reminder that ARK and Thames Water are still able to offer free water saving retrofits to all houses in the upper Kennet. A typical installation includes new tap fittings, new showerheads, dual flush loos and a trigger hose for the garden. A typical home will save £85 per year as a result with a large part of that cost being not heating up water that is then wasted. In these flooded times water efficiency is a hard message to sell – but saving energy is closer to everyone’s heart. The number to call to book a retrofit is: 0800 358 6665 - it’s free! Transition Marlborough joined with the Mayor to call on the Energy Minister, Greg Barker to support the retrofitting of 1,000 energy-inefficient homes with solid wall insulation and biomass boilers in Marlborough Community Area, when he came to the Conservative Club recently. Find out more here... (This article was reprinted in Transition Network News!!! www.transitionnetwork.org) Would your house like to star in an energy-efficient video? Wiltshire Council is sponsoring a retired BBC cameraman, Ali Cameron, to help us make a series of short videos to give people ideas on how to reduce carbon emissions and save on energy bills.
