October 2012 NewsletterA round up of news and views Annual General Meeting - we held our first AGM on 24th October in the Town Hall. Thanks to everyone who joined in the celebration of our many acheivements, including the community market, the proposed new cycle track, the community sale, the permaculture course and the imminent launch of the Kennet Community Energy Company. Exploring the links between the accelerating Arctic Ice Melt and Recent Extreme Weather - this is an important FREE talk that we should all attend. It will be given by Meteorologist, Dr. Jonny Day of Reading University on Thursday November 22nd @ 7.30pm in St. Peter's Church (the deconsecrated one). It is being organised by the Pledging Group and will answer questions about what future weather patterns we can expect, both locally and globally. There will be a collection on the door. TM Sponsors a Diamond Jubilee Apple Tree! - TM was one of many local community groups that sponsored apple trees in support of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. Click here to find out more. Save our trains! - the Transport Group will be at the next Community Market, on Sunday 4th November, with printed letters to our M.P. and the Transport Minister, for you to sign.
