UK Energy Research


The UK is engaged in a wide ranging research programme focused upon the Energy sector and a significant amount of funding for academic research originates from the various Science Research Councils.

Department of Energy & Climate Change - DECC is the primary Government Department responsible for all matters to do with Energy

Research Councils UK - RCUK is the strategic partnership of the UK's seven Research Councils

Research Councils UK Energy Programme - this RCUK programme aims to position the UK to meet its energy and environmental targets and policy goals through world-class research and training

UK Energy Research Centre - UKERC is the hub of UK Energy Research and the gateway between the UK and the international energy research communities

Energy Research Partnership - gives strategic direction to UK Energy Research, development, demonstration and deployment (RDD&D), in the context of the Government’s Energy Policy and brings together key funders of RDD&D in Government, industry and academia, plus other interested bodies

BBSRC Sustainable Bioenergy Centre - BSBEC represents a £24M investment that increases UK bioenergy research capacity and as a virtual Centre brings together world-class research groups from across 12 UK academic institutions
