Reduce/Reuse

Rent DVDs from local public library instead of buying.

You can sell your own DVDs and computer games by advertising in local newspapers or on a website such as ebay. We Buy Books is an easy to use site, best for price and keeping you informed (contrib: Jo Payne).

Sell them at car boot sales or Community Sale. The following charity shops will also accept pre-recorded DVDs in good condition:Prospect Hospice, Helen and Douglas House, Oxfam, RSPCA and The Blue Cross, all in Marlborough High Street. Home computer-burnt copies are not accepted.

Give away on Free Cycle or swap at Give and Take stall at Marlborough Communities Market. Unwanted DVDs can be turned into bird scarers by suspending on string along a vegetable plot, or used as fun coasters.

Recycle

There is currently not a facility in Marlborough for recycling damaged or unwanted DVDs/computer games.  Marlborough Recycling Centre can no longer accept them in the hard plastics container.  CD cases may, at present, be placed in the hard plastics recycling container.

There is a company (Environmental Media Solutions) that will recycle domestic household cassette & VHS tapes, CDs & DVDs and their cases. They will accept up to 100 items free of charge per household but you will need to pay for postage. Click here for details (contrib: Emma Croft, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust)

Computer games consoles that are broken beyond repair, can be place in the small electricals container at Marlborough Household Recycling Centre.
