Dressmaking Items

This includes Buttons, Cotton thread, Scissors, Zips

You can find lots of craft ideas to give everyday items a new purpose in Junk Genius by Juliette Goggin and Stacy Sirk (available in Wiltshire libraries).

Buttons

Save them and use to replace lost buttons. Use to decorate collages, cushions etc.  Turn them into a bracelet by threading them on a length of thin, round elastic and tying it off (works best with buttons that have a loop at the back). Check whether your school can use them for craft projects. Take to Give and Take swap stall at Marlborough Communities Market - there may well be someone else who can use them.

Cotton thread

Check whether your local school can use it. Take to Give and Take swap stall at Marlborough Communities Market - there may well be someone else who can use them.

Scissors

Take broken scissors to Household Recycling Centre and place in metals container.

Zips

These can often be taken out of old clothes to be used again.
