Skills Sharing
We are on the look-out for people who would be willing to facilitate courses in self-reliance in order to help build local capacity. If you would like to learn a new skill, such as basket weaving, growing and using herbal remedies or making a small-scale, domestic, renewable energy system, Transition Marlborough will sponsor up to 50% of the cost of your attendance at a 'state-of-the-art' training course, somewhere in the UK, on condition that you are willing to share your new skills with us on your return. This would mean facilitating one or more, low cost, day-long training courses, which would be held locally and be open to TM supporters.
Several months ago, we partially sponsored Caroline's attendance at a fantastic cheese-making course with the 'Weekend Artisan' in Chandlers Ford. She learned a lot and has been practising her new cheese-making skills with her family at home. Caroline held her first one day cheese-making session in Alexandra's spaceous kitchen, in April and a second one in November - great fun was had by all! We are planning another day-long, cheese-making session next year. The cost will be just £25 per person and includes a free cheese mould and a take-home, yummy cheese. If you would like to put your name down for the next course or would like us to consider sponsoring you on a 'state-of-the-art' training course, then please get in touch, via permaculture@transitionmarlborough.org
