Lights and Light Bulbs
Reduce
Use long life, low energy bulbs. LED light bulbs have an average life expectancy of 50,000 hours and compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs about 8,000 hours. The life expectancy of an incandescent bulb is only about 1,200 hours.
Turn off lights when not in use.

Recycle
Fluorescent tubes and low energy light bulbs can be recycled at Marlborough Household Recycling Centre.
LED bulbs: by the time they eventually wear out, there should be more recycling facilities available. Suppliers may take them back for recycling.
Old-style, incandescent, bulbs are not usually recycled. However, the guys at Marlborough Household Recycling Centre say they can also be placed in container with low energy and fluorescent bulbs. Do not place in glass bottle recyling because they are made of a different type of glass and also contain metal parts.
Recycle old lamps, that are beyond reuse or repair, at Marlborough Household Recycling Centre, in the small electricals container.
