Recycled Goods

As well as reducing, reusing and recycling your waste it is also important to buy reused and recycled goods in order to create a market for them.   Buying recycled goods is all about ‘closing the loop’.  Without an end market, recycling products would be pointless.  So, look for recycled goods in your local shops and if you can’t find any, ask.  If shop owners realise that there is a market for recycled goods they are more likely to stock them.  Examples of recycled goods include:

Recycled paper toilet rolls, such as Nouvelle and supermarket own brand.  Available from most supermarkets and sometimes cheaper than leading brands.

Recycled bin liners.  Available from most supermarkets.

Recycled greetings cards.  Such as the ‘Far Side’ range.

Recycled stationery and products made from recycled glass, leather and other materials are also available.   Look out for them.

If you are a parent or grandparent of young children, deal with children in a professional capacity (e.g. as a teacher or playgroup worker), work with groups of elderly people or adults with disabilities, or are an art student, you can obtain a wide variety of craft and educational materials from Swindon Children's Scrapstore , now based at Unit 2, Bramble Close, Elgin Industrial Estate, Swindon, SN2 8DW.
