Similarly high levels of nitrogen dioxide and toxic particulates, which cause breathing and heart problems, also affect Calne and Devizes. As a result Wiltshire Council have been obliged to install pollution monitors in most of Wiltshire's towns. Marlborough's electronic air pollution monitor will soon be installed outside St. Peter's School. TM was invited to the recent launch of the Air Quality website in County Hall, Trowbridge. This new website shows current levels of nitrogen dioxide and toxic particulates and allows people with breathing problems to decide whether it is safe to go outside - you can check out the current readings in Calne and Devizes here... Cheese-making - The latest cheese-making course went ahead as planned. Participants learned how to make a delicious cream cheese roulade and prepared camembert-style cheese, which they will finish off at home. Here you can see cheese-making expert Caroline enjoying the shared lunch with participants. If you would like to join in the next cheese-making course please get in touch via permaculture@transitionmarlborough.org Chair's Quick Comment. I always begin to feel festive with the arrival of The Community Market Lights switch on, it was "Fabulous", our biggest market to date and was really well attended. A Huge "Thank you to Ellie and the team". Don't forget the last market of 2014 is the 7th of December. Really a great chance to do some #ShopLocal Christmas shopping. If you have yet to buy your raffle tickets for a £100 shop on the Market they will be on sale at the party and on the Market. If you would like to sell some tickets please contact the hub team... On the 25th of November I gave an update to the Area Board on our work. By the time you read this you should be able to read my written report as a Blog post. Sam did a great job with Cllr Fogg in getting an Air Quality Monitor sited next to St Peter's. We will let you know when it is live. It just remains for me to thank you for your support for 2014... I hope you have a peaceful and enjoyable time over the winter holidays. Perhaps for the start 2015 can you add a extra New Year'a resolution of "what can I do to make my carbon footprint smaller than last year" Yours sincerely Rich Pitts
