Find out how to give them a new lease of life here Bedwyn Bus cuts: The Transport Group supports Bedwyn Train Passengers Group's response to Wiltshire Council's consultation on their proposed 50% cut to the Marlborough - Bedwyn, Hungerford (20 & 22) service. BTPG conducted a survey of Great Bedwyn residents, then came up with a new, innovative timetable that improves connections with trains and provides a decent service for workers, students and shoppers. This timetable would need one bus and two drivers, rather than one bus and one driver as proposed by WC. They have pointed out that the £80, 000 which would be saved by WC's new timetable represents 31% of the total saving that is required across the whole of Wiltshire. The Practical Permaculture for Transition course has continued with The Art of Composting, Design and an Introduction to Bee-Keeping. Considering that our bees are in decline, Alexandra has listed several links to help us do our bit for bees. We also visited Eastbrook Organic Farm where Helen Browning (Director of the Soil Association) keeps pigs, cattle, calves and sheep using the very highest welfare standards. Hopefully her organic sausages and bacon will soon be on sale at our Sunday market. Read the blog post about our visit here... Rio+20 was a huge disappointment to most environmentalists because the final document did not contain any binding targets or funding agreements. Instead the politicians agreed on a policy of 'sustainable growth' - in a world of depleted resources! You can read the final 53 page document, entitled 'The Future We Want', here... The Great Marlborough Community Sale: the count down has started to this terrific new project organised by the Climate Pledge and Recycling Groups.
