March 2015 NewsletterA round up of news and views Practical Permaculture for Transition - the first session on the Principles, Ethics and Philosophy of permaculture went ahead on Saturday 21st March as planned. We also watched '5 Acre Abundance' by Geoff Lawton. Our direct train services between Bedwyn and London Paddington will be cut by May 2017 - This means that all the diesel turbo trains will terminate at Newbury and passengers will have to climb over the bridge to continue their journey. This is extremely bad news for anyone who depends on these trains to get to work in Reading or London. It will also prevent anyone who is disabled from using the trains, as there are no lifts at Newbury station. Read more here...
The General Election is on May 7th - Hustings involving all candidates for the Devizes constituency will be held in St John's School, on Wednesday 15th April, starting at 7.30pm. Hustings, hosted by PEAT, on environmental issues, again involving all 5 candidates, will be held in Bouverie Hall, Pewsey, on Thursday 23rd April, starting at 7.30pm. This is your chance to question the candidates about local and national issues.

Marlborough Communities' Market - has moved to the last Sunday of the month. Did you know that Wiltshire Council want us to pay £75 to hold this self-help market, even though they are not providing any services, i.e. putting out traffic cones, erecting stalls and clearing up afterwards. Such a high charge is likely to kill this fledgling enterprise, without your support. Read the Marlborough News online report, here...
