COP21: The Paris Talks are set to miss the 2 degree target - In advance of the COP21 United Nations climate talks to be held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December, every country was asked to submit proposals on cutting use of fossil fuels in order to reduce their emissions of greenhouses gases and so tackle global warming. The deadline for these pledges was 1 October. Find out more, here...

Massive Cuts to the Feed-in-Tariff - The government consultation has now closed, they received more than 50,000 responses from the public! However there is still time to sign the government petition, here... 100,000 signatures are needed before it can be considered for debate in Parliament.  Find out how an 87% cut to the Feed-in Tariff will affect our own community energy company, KCEL, here...

A Film Club for Transition Marlborough? - Film can be a powerful medium and we would like to start up a regular film club to share and promote films and discussion about things close to the heart of Transition. The film club could showcase local film makers, encourage young people's involvement in local issues, offer viewings of award winning films and create an atmosphere that brings out discussion and debate about the big issues of our time. It could also lift our spirits with inspiring stories and different worlds. Would you support a local film club? Cycle Network - The hard work of the Cycling branch of the Transport Group seems to be paying off at last.  Two years of writing emails and attending meetings with Wiltshire Council and Marlborough College has resulted in the resurfacing of the muddy path along Treacle Bolly.  St Johns students who live in Manton will soon be able to cycle to and from school safely. We are still waiting for the cycle racks in the High Street to be replaced, following the MOPS Fair, however.  It seems that their bases have corroded away, cyclists are advised to chain their bikes to the Town Hall railings until further notice...

TM Christmas Party - Save the date: Thursday 10th December, 7.30 to 9.30pm, upstairs in the Bear.  This year we are planning to show the amazing film: TAKING ROOT: THE VISION OF WANGARI MAATHAI, which tells the inspiring story of the Green Belt Movement of Kenya and its founder Wangari Maathai, the first environmentalist and first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Bring-and-share food will be available.
